This is my preliminary taskFor my preliminary task, I had to create a school magazine, and I choose to do a magazine for my school.
In my preliminary project, I only knew how to use photoshop to do basic things, but in my preliminary I used photoshop and learned how to do some more complex things.
So on my real task, my music magazine I will have more knowledge on how to use photoshop.
I have used a total of four photos on the front cover, but on my real magazine, I will make my front cover busier. I have learnt from my preliminary, that it is hard to manage the space on the cover, because it was hard to fit just three photos on the front.
From taking the photos for my front cover, I have also learnt that taking photos with good lighting is also difficult and found this a major problem when taking photos that I could use for my preliminary magazine.
Also the font, for my real magazine I will spend more time on finding the right font that matches my magazine genre. Because on this magazine, the font is very professional and I picked it because I thought it looked more formal. Whereas in a music magazine, the font can be less formal and as I am doing an indie magazine, the font can be different.
The contents page was easier to make compared to the front cover. For my music magazine, I will use more then three photos, and again make it busier. I like the layout of my contents page, but it is very formal compared to what I will do for my music magazine. I have learnt from making my contents that taking photos at the right angle is very important. I took both landscape and portrait photos, but found that the portrait photos where easier to use and change, to how I wanted them too look. Again, the font in this page is very formal as it is a school magazine. Also the contents page is laid out in a grid form, which will be very similar to my real magazine contents.
